A friend of mine recently gave me this vintage Swiss Post bag.
He told me that in Switzerland, the postal service still handles bank business and these bags were used to deliver cheques.
Supposedly you can fit a metal rack inside (of which some traces can be seen in the leather)
which holds envelopes upright so they can easily be taken out individually.

It's easily one of the most "over-constructed" items I have ever seen,
all the materials used are incredibly sturdy and more of the quality one would expect in a military item.

Despite it's size this is one of the most impressive buckles I've so far come across

Hard to make out on the picture but it says "G.Bitter Sattlerei Zürich", 64 is most likely the year it was made.
